Event Summary:
The 250th USA Birthday Celebration at Historic Fairview Cemetery was an absolute blast! Albuquerque skies were blue, and the breeze was warm, setting the perfect scene as attendees of all ages from across the community came out to enjoy a day filled with joy, laughter, and patriotic fun.
Ohana Zia Shave Ice treated everyone to refreshing shaved ice in bright red, white, and blue—or whatever favorite flavor they loved. Commander Tyrone Finch of William Mason Post 95 kept the grill going nonstop, serving hot dogs, while Commander Jim Berdine of VFW Post 10763 arrived early, ready with American flags and poppies for all.
The Betty Boop Girls brought smiles everywhere they went, and both big and little kids had a hilarious time playing granny pants and other outdoor games.
Our Eagle Scouts were indispensable—helping set up and break down tents, chairs, tables, and balloons with professionalism and heart. And of course, DJ Tommy knocked it out of the park with upbeat patriotic tunes, children’s songs, a little Country Western, and even James Brown and Elvis to keep the energy high.
Board members Ed and Sara Sather, along with Karen Street, truly outdid themselves with plenty of cupcakes, sodas, juices, treats, leis, patriotic beads, bracelets, and gifts for everyone. It was a community event done right—joyful, welcoming, and full of heart. We are very grateful for the continued support from BernCo District 3 and Commissioner Adriann Barboa.
