Cemetery Stories Returns!
Cemetery Stories returns to Historic Fairview Cemetery on August 11, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This storytelling event invites community members to Fairview Cemetery at dusk to experience the history of the cemetery as well as hear a story slam presented by folks from around New Mexico sharing their stories on death, loss, memorial, and life itself.
During the first hour starting at 6:00 PM, stroll through the eastern part of the cemetery. Speakers stationed in three locations will share the history of Albuquerque through the lives of those who are buried at Fairview. The story slam will begin at 7 o’clock at the main stage on the east side of the grounds. The first hour speakers are:
- Cody Polston, ghost investigator and author of Haunted Albuquerque, Ghosts of Old Town Albuquerque, and other titles
- Rev. Will Steinsiek as Reverend Thomas Harwood, at his burial plot in Historic Fairview Cemetery
- Demetrius Brandon, on the history of the Buffalo Soldiers and several who are buried in the cemetery
The cemetery is located at 700 Yale Blvd. SE – enter through the gates of Fairview Memorial Park and follow the signs to the Historic Cemetery entrance inside. Tickets are $10 and will be sold online and at the door. Buy tickets HERE.
